The volume of notes was compiled by Taber in the 1970s as part of the background information for his series of books on the logging railroads and lumbering industry in Pennsylvania. It consists of original typed notes and a table of tanneries compiled by Taber, letters written to Taber by tanning companies containing historical information, original and photocopied trade catalogs and letters, and several photos of tanneries and tannery workers.
